Transport comparison to the airport
I left my hotel behind KL Sentral monorail at 0700 and caught the 0730 bus to the airport. Despite my fears of rush hour traffic, I got to KLIA Terminal 2 in 50 mins. In fact, I don’t recall having ever been stuck in traffic on this route.
The bus, at MYR15 is far cheaper than the train at MYR55. The train nominally takes 35 mins but that is to Terminal 1. So, for Terminal 2, there’s only about 10 mins difference, based on today’s road conditions.
The trains run to Terminal 1 then 2 whereas the bus does it reverse. Yeah, for Terminal 1, the difference in speed is more significant.
Unusually, a delay
I went to a relatively new Skysuite Lounge located landside before heading domestic airside, where there wasn’t a lounge. Compared to the Plaza Premium lounge in the shopping level landside, this one was a spacious quiet oasis with only one other customer.
At the gate, I tracked my incoming aircraft to find that it had landed. Then we had a gate change to coincide with new aircraft assignment. The 10 min delay eventually became 30 min, with us pushing back after midday.
I suppose a delay of that duration isn’t much when there’s a new aircraft involved. I’m still ahead, with my last three AirAsia flights having arrived early.
Having not expected a lounge to be available, I had booked a wrap for this flight a long time ago. I had completely forgotten about this so it came as a pleasant surprise.
Family for Christmas
I started my stay with housework at my apartment, specifically mopping and wiping.
I’m here for Christmas with my brothers but with me flying out on Christmas afternoon, they had kindly organised an early Christmas dinner on 23 Dec.
