I had three full days in Bangkok including today. After such an amazing but busy time in Saudi, I had run out of steam and interest. I was wary that my time here would be wasted unless I tweaked my attitude.
I had limited success shifting my attitude. I got out and about in my area a lot to enjoy the vibe. But I didn’t go as far as doing an excursion to Ayutthaya or revisit the floating market after nearly 50 years. I just couldn’t face mass tourism after Saudi.
The three days went quickly with wanders around the area each mealtime, daily massage, writing, editing photos, and reading up about some of the places in Saudi which I had visited. We had been far too busy to have fully read-up about some places. The discovery about Saudi continues!
The more notable aspects of the three days were:
- I spent my first day completely indoors apart from two meals out and a massage.
- On my second day, I took the river boat to a fancy mall, Icon Siam, for lunch at its food hall which was dressed up to look like a hawker market.
- And today, my third and final day, a friend recommended a walk around Talad Noi area near Chinatown. I had dismissed the idea of going to the Chatuchak Market as there was nothing I wanted to buy.
Talad Noi was very rundown but it was dotted with a few arty spots. Having learnt of this mid-morning, it was a little too hot by the time I embarked by river boat to Marine Department where I commenced my exploration on foot. It turned out to be a hot and sweaty walk.
