My sis and bro-in-law were still in Kuching when I left today, and they kindly ran me to the airport. Actually, I drove but they drove back. Traffic was unusually heavy and the journey took an hour. Just as well we allowed plenty of time.
I flew Malaysia Airlines’ 1335 flight to Kuala Lumpur with no checked-in baggage even though my ticket had included it. I was just a little over their cabin allowance but legacy airlines tend to be less strict.
The flight went like clock-work but everything kinda fell apart once I landed in Kuala Lumpur. There was a short wait for the bus to KL Sentral and the ride in traffic and rain took 1h45 including the journey to Terminal 2 where there was a short stop to pick up more passengers, which added about 20 mins compared to a departure from Terminal 2. And then there was a fuel stop!
This is probably the only time I’ve regretted taking the bus, priced at MYR15 (up from previous MYR12) compared to the train at MYR55. For journeys to/from Terminal 2, the train is only about 15 mins faster than the bus on a good day. But today, the train would have saved me about an hour.
Once at the Double M Hotel at KL Sentral, the receptionist wasn’t there and the helper had trouble finding my booking.
