Despite the 1h time difference from Paris, I woke up earlyish around 0730 but lay in bed for an extra hour. Today is a big online catch-up day after about a week of not turning my laptop on.
I caught up on lots of tasks online and paid for a hotel breakfast at reception only to find that it was a cold room-service tray rather than buffet. I probably could have wandered out to get something if I had known that, while looking for the bus stop to the airport.
The hotel had kindly given me a complimentary late check-out till 1600. I walked about 3 mins uphill towards the bus stop and ate a late lunch in a restaurant. It was 31 degC but the walk wasn’t as sweaty as Kuching as it wasn’t humid.
As I was doing that, I saw that the H6 bus to the airport going past. It was about 30 mins behind schedule. The next which I had hoped to get wasn’t too late and got me to the airport around 1710, which was 8h before my 0110 departure tomorrow morning.
I killed 3h landside on my computer and surprisingly spent under an hour getting airside slowly despite no significant queues. I think the walking distances are fairly large at Istanbul airport and everything takes times.
I killed a further 3h in the lounge before heading to the gate an hour before my departure.
