Pay-toilet on my flight

I left Yemen for Dubai today with mixed emotions.  It was sad to leave Sanaa and Marie but happy to be on the way home. I noticed on the flight that the “Push” sign on the toilet door was also written in Arabic as “Idfaa”.  That also means “Pay” (imperative or command form).  I like […]

Long transit

Today I start the second part of my adventure by flying to Hong Kong for a long transit, before continuing to Sana’a and later on in the month Ethiopia.  It was an 0600 wake-up in my apartment and my brother was kind enough to run me to the airport. I was booked on the same-plane […]

Family time

Today I fly back to my hometown Kuching on Malaysian Borneo to spend time with family. But I had some time to kill before my afternoon flight. Staying in Kowloon, I had to take the Star Ferry to collected my luggage left at Novotel on the other side of Hong Kong harbour.  The ferry is […]

Night flight

Tonight I depart for Hong Kong to begin two new adventures.  The first in China and the second in Ethiopia.  The time in between would be spent with family in Kuching, Malaysian Borneo and then Sana’a, Yemen. Homeward bound, alone

Above:  Toulouse is also known as the Pink City because of its brick buildings. Today I make my way back to Auckland alone, while Kim makes his homecoming three days afterwards with his parents.  The reason for this is that he’s spending a couple of days at a car event at Goodwood in southern England. […]

Flying to Paris

We were only in Paris four years ago and I never expected that we would be back so soon.  I’ve made really good French friends in Paris and we decided to see them in their home ground. I love Paris but it’s even better with friends!  There’s Marie who lives in Paris itself and Lou […]

Flying out

We flew out of Auckland to San Francisco at 1910, without any hassles, despite on standby tickets.  Kim and I had a couple of hangers-on with us:  his old friend Eric plus his best mate Rodger as well.  They’re all car fanatics and have quite a treat ahead in California with various car events.

Home sweet home

I slept nearly all the way home, seated in Premium Economy.  It’s quite unusual for me to sleep on flights, sometimes being wide awake despite assistance with sleeping pill. It was a good end to a trip I didn’t really want to undertake, for good reasons.  I had only returned from a long trip to […]
