Family time

What an awesome adventure it has been in Yemen.  It was nice to follow it up with some chill time in Greece before flying to Singapore (via Dubai) to stay with my parents, who live there part-time.

Unwieldy transit

Start of my adventure My brother dropped me off at Kuching International Airport in the morning. As it was a new terminal building, I explored it as much as I could before my flight to Johor Bahru. I did notice on the apron that there were ground markings for the Airbus A380! Seems like a […]

Leaving home

Today is a very special day as I embark on an adventure that most people wouldn’t even contemplate. I will be going to Yemen to study Arabic and explore the country. But first, I fly to Singapore.  With an ETD of 1145, it was a leisurely wake-up at 0800 before heading to the airport. I […]

Back to work

The four of us landed in Auckland at 1130.  On one hand, I was looking forward to summer and showing Mum around.  But I was starting at new job.  Jobs are hard to find at this time of year, just before Christmas and if one doesn’t take it, not much will come up until February.  […]

Lion City

We arrived into Singapore, the Lion City, at 1830 for a three night stay, which is really only two full days.  We stayed with Mum and step-dad, and did what we normally do in Singapore, which are eating and looking for bargains on items which are normally over-priced in New Zealand.

Home again

We landed in Auckland around 1215 and picked up our Avis rental car to take us home.  This was the cheapest way of getting home.  The car cost us NZD19 including surcharges (so the actual rental would have been a negative amount).  It’s sold as a relocation from the airport branch to the city branch […]

Transit

We had about six hours to self-connect for our flight to Auckland departing at 0530.  With arrival immigration, luggage claim, check-in and then exit immigration, there was about three hours of actual waiting time.  But those three hours were at the horrid hours of the night which meant I was rather sleepy.  The flight to Auckland […]
